SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes let a late lead slip away on Friday night at Fiscalini Field, falling 4-5 to Sonoma State.
The Yotes led 4-1 into the ninth thanks to four RBIs from Richard Castro, but a three-run shot from the Seawolves capped a four-run inning. Castro hit solo shots in the second and sixth innings, and singled with the bases loaded in the eighth to plate two.
The Yotes outhit the Seawolves 10-6, made no errors, and left six on base. Castro had three hits on the night, with AJ Barraza and Garrett Ouellette collecting two each, with Ouellette doubling.
Ryan Kurtz started and allowed just one run over six innings. Jackson Gilmore struck out all four batters he faced out of the pen. The Yotes (9-20, 6-18 CCAA) will face the Seawolves in a doubleheader tomorrow at 1 pm. Live stats are on CSUSBathletics.com.
