TURLOCK, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes split a pair of makeup games for a February 15 rainout on Thursday in Turlock, falling in game one, 3-5, but taking game two 4-0 against CSU East Bay.
In game one, the Yotes led 1-0 early, but were outscored 4-2 over the final two innings. Dominique Walker singled up the middle in the first to get on the board, and after the Yotes fell down 3-1, Samantha Vacko singled one home in the sixth and Morgan Ratliff launched a solo shot in the seventh.
Ratliff led the way with three hits, as the Yotes had nine on the day. Haley Finn doubled, and Vacko and Walker had two hits each.
In game two, Kianna Abellera launched a two-run homer in the first inning and that was all Amanda Ramirez needed. She went the distance on the mound, allowing just three hits with two K's in a complete-game shutout.
Walker singled another run home in the third and an RBI-groundout made it 4-0 in the fifth. The Yotes had seven hits with Walker getting two more. Ratliff, Walker, and Finn all doubled.
The Yotes (15-8, 12-8 CCAA) return to the Pedretti Sports Complex tomorrow at 9 am for the Tournament of Champions, facing Western Washington. Live stats are on CSUSBathletics.com.
