TURLOCK, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes never stopped fighting and turned a blowout into a close game on Saturday, finally falling 9-12 at Stanislaus State.
The Yotes trailed 0-11 entering the eighth, but scored nine over the last two innings to make the Warriors sweat.
Christian Vargas doubled home a run in the eighth and Isaiah Carreon tripled in the ninth to score three runs. The Yotes had eight hits, Vargas with three and Carter Kimberly with two, stranding seven runners. Kyle Tolle and Garrett Ouellette quieted the Warriors out of the pen, allowing just a run each.
The Yotes will have a chance to square the series tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 11 am. Live links are on CSUSBathletics.com.
