SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes dropped a pair of games to Chico State on Saturday afternoon at home, 1-4 and 5-6.
In game one, the Yotes were able to get just one run, a Garrett Ouellette homer in the fifth, but had the score at 1-2 through seven innings. The Yotes had two hits, with the other being a Shawn Porthan double. CSUSB still got runners on base, stranding seven in the game. C.J. Blowers (1-1) struck out eight in his start and Austyn Coleman had a hitless ninth.
In game two, the Yotes had grabbed a 5-4 lead in the third with Richard Castro driving home two with a single in that inning. He had already done that, plating two in the second. The Wildcats scored one in the fifth and one in the sixth to retake the lead.
The Yotes had 10 hits as a team, as Castro had three, Gabe Chavez had two, and David Osuna added two including a double. Noah Simon pitched the final one and two-thirds innings, with two K's and no hits.
