SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The No. 20 CSUSB Coyotes split with CSU Monterey Bay on Friday afternoon, falling in game one, 1-4, and taking game two, 12-5.
In game one, the Yotes struggled to get the offense going, scoring on Haley Finn's solo shot to right in the fifth inning. The Yotes did leave six runners on base. Amanda Ramirez (5-3) struck out three batters going the distance.
In game two, the CSUSB offense came to life, scoring 12 runs on eight hits. After falling behind 0-5 through two, the Yotes scored seven in the second inning and Anissa Padilla (3-0) allowed no more runs across. She struck out four on the day.
Finn highlighted the second inning with a three-RBI double off the left field wall to make it 7-5. Claudia Lopez drove in another run with a single in the sixth. Lopez had three hits including a double. Finn and Sydney Kreimann had two hits each.
The Yotes (11-4, 8-4 CCAA) will host the Otters again tomorrow with the doubleheader beginning at 11 am. Live stats are on CSUSBathletics.com.
