SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – An exciting ninth inning highlighted a game in which CSUSB pushed No. 7 Southern New Hampshire to extra innings, but eventually fell, 6-11, at Fiscalini Field on Friday night.

With the game tied at four, the Penman hit back-to-back solo shots in the top of the ninth, but Gabe Chavez and Richard Castro responded with back-to-back jacks to answer in the bottom frame.  Going back to the first frame, CSUSB had the bases loaded with no outs to start the game, and they scored two runs in the inning, both on plays that resulted in outs.

Chavez had five hits in six plate appearances on the night, as he was a triple short of a cycle.  On the pitching side, CSUSB starter Tyler Williams was solid, going five and a third allowing three hits, four runs, but just two earned while K'ing eight.  Jackson Gilmore pitched two scoreless innings in relief.  The Yotes carried a 4-1 lead into the sixth but SNH was able to tie at four there, which was the scored carried into the ninth.   The Yotes did leave the winning run on third in the bottom of the ninth.

The Coyotes (1-2) will wrap up the series tomorrow, playing a doubleheader against the Penman beginning at 2 pm at Fiscalini Field.  Live links are available on CSUSBathletics.com.
