LAS VEGAS – The CSUSB Coyotes were named the Desert Stinger Tournament Champions after going 3-0 and outscoring their opponents 34-5 as they finished with a 10-3 win over Academy of Art on Sunday afternoon. 

Bailey Powell picked up her second win of the weekend going four and two-thirds innings on Sunday allowing just three runs.  Amanda Ramirez earned the save allowing no runs on three hits.  The Yotes took a 6-0 lead after scoring five in the third inning, and tacked on two more runs in each of the final two innings.  Dominique Walker smacked two doubles and had four hits total.  A double in the third broke it open scoring three runs.

"I am extremely proud of the way our team showed up to play all weekend," head coach Dee Payan said.  "They've worked extremely hard leading up to the Desert Stinger Tourney and it has definitely showed. Our offensive numbers we put up were unmatched. Morgan Ratliff, Dominique Walker, Sydney Kriemann, and Jamiana Gateb all had a phenomenal weekend at the plate. Our pitching staff has been working hard and has shown a lot of growth in the past month. Together they posted an 1.84 era and I'm excited to see what the future holds for them. We are looking to carry this momentum into the opening weekend of conference."

The Coyotes (3-0) will look to ride the momentum into CCAA play next weekend as they travel to CSU San Marcos on Friday and Saturday, beginning at 12 pm on Friday.  Live links will be available on CSUSBathletics.com.
