HAYWARD, Calif. – The Yotes had one rough inning on Friday afternoon at Cal State East Bay, and unfortunately fell, 4-5.
The Pioneers scored five unearned runs in the fifth inning, as CSUSB starter Tyler Williams went the distance, allowing no earned runs on nine hits. The Yotes scored on a bases-loaded walk in the second and a solo shot from Gabe Chavez in the fourth. After falling behind on two errors in the fifth, they got two runs back in the seventh on a wild pitch and passed ball.
The Yotes (5-4, 2-2) scratched out seven hits but left 15 men on base on the day. Sergio Rey had two hits and AJ Barraza collected a double. The two will be back at it tomorrow for an 11 am doubleheader.
