CSUSB Takes Down Chico State In Double OT

Sauser drops 36 points

CHICO, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes pulled away from Chico State in double overtime on the road on Thursday night, winning 87-76.

Jasmine Sauser had quite a night, scoring a career-high 36 points, hitting seven threes, and grabbing 10 boards to complete the double-double in 47 minutes of action.  Kayla Bibb played one less minute and grabbed 18 boards and scored 11 points on the night.  Jazzmeen Williams added 10 points as the third Yote in double figures.

Sauser hit three-straight threes in the double overtime period to finally get some space and the Yotes got stops and made free throws to seal the win.  Chico State led by two with 22 seconds left in the first overtime, but Jamellia Clark set Bibb up for the tying layup with seven seconds left.  Going back to regulation, Leaundra Walker-Brown tied the game on a layup with 38 seconds left, and both teams had shots to win the game.  CSUSB led by as much as nine in the first half and trailed by as much as eight in the second half.

"What a fun win, as we showed some mental toughness in a tough environment. We executed well down the stretch to get it to overtime," CSUSB head coach Susan Crebbin said.  "Leaundra's pick and score and Bibb fought for that rebound to tie it up in overtime.  Jasmine took us home with huge threes, combined with her defense on their best guard, it was special to coach."

The Yotes dominated the glass, 60-48, and scored 22 second-chance points on 18 offensive rebounds while only allowing four second-chance points for the Wildcats.  The Coyotes (10-13, 9-10 CCAA) will continue the road trip and head north to Humboldt State on Saturday for a 5:30 pm tip.  Follow live links on CSUSBathletics.com.
