POMONA – The Yotes opened the season against No. 4 Azusa Pacific on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, leading 14-12 after one quarter, but falling 47-75.
Kayla Bibb led the Yotes in scoring with 13, as
Tatianna Russell added 12 and
Tehya Burroughs scored 10. Bibb and Russell both pulled down eight boards. Russell added three assists from her post position.
The Yotes led through the majority of the first quarter, and only trailed 17-20 in offensive rebounds on the game. They led in second-chance points, 12-10.
"I was pleased with our first-half efforts with offensive rebounding and patience on offense," first-year head coach Casandra Renno said. "We will bounce back tomorrow for another tough game. We look forward to building and working towards our end goal."
