SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes stumbled in the third quarter and fell 70-71 to Cal Poly Pomona at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Yotes shot 56 percent in the first half and led 39-31, but the Broncos took control in the third quarter and edged out CSUSB in the end. Jasmine Sauser led CSUSB with 27 points, hitting 10-of-19 shots to go with four assists, 10 rebounds, and two blocks in a stat-stuffing effort. Jamellia Clark added nine and Kayla Bibb had seven points with 11 boards.
The Yotes had a great second quarter and led by as much as 10 on a free throw from Bibb late in the half. CPP tied the game midway through the third and led 57-52 after three. The Yotes fell down by 11 in the fourth, but clawed back and had two possessions to tie late after a three from Tehya Burroughs.
The Broncos scored 17 points off 18 CSUSB turnovers, but the Yotes did have 15 assists and led on the glass, 42-40. The Coyotes (4-8, 3-5 CCAA) are back at home next week welcoming CSU Monterey Bay at 5:30 pm on Thursday. Live links are available on CSUSBathletics.com.
