SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes raced out to a quick lead on Thursday night over CSU Monterey Bay and were victorious, 58-41.
They led 19-2 after one quarter, with Courtney Coleman, Jasmine Sauser, and Tehya Burroughs all hitting threes in that stretch. The Yotes were able to hold off the Otters from making any runs from that point on.
"We came out fast sharing the ball and getting good shots," Coleman said. "Our defense turned into offense in that first quarter."
Sauser and Coleman finished with 16 and 12 points, respectively, leading the team. Burroughs chipped in nine. Jazzmeen Williams grabbed 10 boards, and Jamellia Clark and Kayla Bibb had nine each. The Yotes dished 16 assists, with Sauser and Coleman dropping four each.
The Yotes led 31-16 at half and never let the lead get near single-digits. The Coyotes (5-8, 4-5 CCAA) wrap up the homestand on Saturday against Cal State East Bay at 1 pm. Live links are available on CSUSBathletics.com.
