SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes nearly put up 100 in a 96-71 win over CSU Monterey Bay at home on Thursday night in front of a raucous student section.
Garrett Baggett led the way with 22 points, hitting nine of his 14 shots. Naradain James scored 14, and Daytone Jennings and Malik Rhodes dropped 15 each. The CCAA Player of the Week Andres Villa led with 11 boards, a category CSUSB led 44-39 in. The Yotes only committed seven turnovers but had 18 assists, with eight different players getting dimes.
"When we limit our turnovers, nights like tonight can happen," Rhodes said. "We get more possessions and we get better shots when we look for others first."
The Yotes, who shot a scorching 53 percent on the night, made eight threes, and saw their lead hit double digits by midway through the first half. They finished the half on a 13-5 run to lead 49-32 at the break. The lead grew above 20 in the second half and never dipped below again.
The Coyotes (10-5, 6-3 CCAA) are winners of five-straight in the CCAA and wrap up the homestand with Cal State East Bay on Saturday at 3 pm. Live links are available on CSUSBathletics.com.
