SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSU San Bernardino Coyotes won their third-straight match and moved to 1-0 early in the CCAA season with a 3-0 win over visiting Cal Poly Pomona at Premier Field on Wednesday.
The score was all square at half, but in the 50th minute Sergio Espindola took a cross in the box from Jesus Ortega and Fabian Roman and scored from 15 yards out to get CSUSB on the board. As the game moved into the 84th minute, Jonathan Garcia was the recipient of two quick passes from Ortega and Danny Ortiz as he scored from 10 yards out. Ortiz got in the scoring column a minute later when he converted a penalty kick.
Ortiz has now scored and given an assist in the last three matches. The Coyotes led in shots 16-13 and took six shots on goal, compared to three for CPP.
