Ceniceros shows power, Coyotes take series

SAN BERNARDINO (April 29, 2018) — CSUSB won its first series since the first week of March, taking three of four from Cal State San Marcos after Sunday's doubleheader.

The Coyotes (14-32, 14-26 CCAA) split Sunday's games, losing the first 22-12 and winning the seven-inning game, 14-2. CSUSB completes the regular season this week against Cal State LA. The series begins Thursday afternoon at Fiscalini Field.

Game 1: CSUSM 22, Coyotes 12
Alec Ceniceros delivered a grand slam to center field, and Kyle Csakan added a two-run shot, but it wasn't enough in the loss.

Gabe Chavez was 3-for-4 with two RBI and Csakan added a single to his homer.

Game 2: Coyotes 14, CSUSM 2
The Coyotes returned the favor against the Cougars, scoring a season-high 10 runs in an inning (second) and never looked back with ace Konner Arnold on the hill.

CSUSB sent 14 batters to the plate in the second, and were guided by Ceniceros' two-run homer to right, and Shawn Porthan's bases-clearning triple.

Seven had multi-hits with Garrett Ouellette hitting two doubles, and Chavez going 4-for-5 with three RBI. Tyler Robles went 3-for-4.

Arnold was outstanding in his 97-pitch effort. He went the distance, striking out six without a walk. He allowed six hits and improved to 7-2.
