SAN BERNARDINO (April 13, 2018) — Ty Lineberger connected on an opposite-field solo home run, but the Coyotes faced black cats, walked under a ladder, broke a mirror and any other malady on the unlucky of days in a 27-2 loss to San Francisco State at Fiscalini Field.
The records
CSUSB lost its sixth straight game and fell to 10-25 overall and 10-19 CCAA, while SFSU improved to 15-20, 14-15.
Opposition records
The 27 runs allowed are the most by an opponent in the 31-year history of the CSUSB program, breaking a record held by Cal State Northridge in its 23-5 win over the Coyotes in the 1997 season finale. The 25-run differential also is a record.
Using nine
CSUSB threw pitchers at the Gators. Starter
Noah Simon (1-5) took the loss in 2.1 innings, striking out four with one walk.
Welcome back Garrett
Catcher
Garrett Ouellette returned after illness and had two hits and supplied the Coyotes' other RBI — a fourth-inning double that brought in
Jacob Allen.
Leading the way
Senior
Tyler Robles went 3-for-5 and
Mando Rodriguez joined Ouellette with two hits.
