CARSON (March 8, 2018) — Alec Ceniceros and
Mando Rodriguez each had three RBI, but host Cal State Dominguez Hills grabbed control with a four-run eighth inning as CSUSB lost the CCAA series opener, 11-9 on Thursday afternoon.
The records
CSUSB lost for just the second time in its last seven games and takes a 5-10 overall record and 5-4 conference record into Friday's game in Carson. The Toros are 6-9, 3-6.
Taking the lead
Rodriguez lifted CSUSB to a 5-3 lead in the fifth on a three-run double. It keyed a four-run, two-hit frame.
Ceniceros to the rescue
After CSUDH answered with a four-run inning of its own and led 7-5, Ceniceros came through with a two-run homer to right center to tie the game. Then in the seventh,
Erick Allegro gave the Coyotes a one-run lead on a sac fly, and Ceniceros followed with an RBI-double and CSUSB led 9-7.

All 11 runs were earned off Coyotes starter
Garret Christiansen (seven) and reliever

Extra bases

Garrett Ouellette had the Coyotes' other extra-base hit — a double in the sixth. He finished the day 2-for-4.
