TURLOCK (March 23, 2018) — The Coyotes earned a split Friday during the first day of play at Stanislaus State's annual Tournament of Champions.
CSUSB took its opener in a 7-0 win over Holy Names, and was defeated by Academy of Art 1-0 late Friday night.
CSUSB, now 15-10 overall, faces Western Washington and Hawaii Pacific on Saturday.

Junior RHP
Amanda Ramirez spun a four-hit shutout and her teammates got the job done at the plate.
Samantha Vacko supplied a pair of RBI and went 2-for-3 at the plate. Her RBI-double in the fifth gave the Coyotes a 4-0 lead.
Freshman
Jamiana Gateb was 3-for-4 and
Briana Quintana and
Monica Maddox also had two-hit games.
On the mound, Ramirez (9-5) proved to be methodical once again. She had just one strikeout with one walk and 14 ground outs.

Vacko,
Jamiana Gateb and
Ashley Leffingwell all had singles, but it wasn't enough against the Urban Knights.
CSUSB stranded six runners on base, AA broke through with the game's only run in the sixth.
Ramirez took the loss in 5 innings. She gave up six hits.
