SAN BERNARDINO (March 16, 2018) — CSUSB played for the first time in two weeks and earned a CCAA split over Stanislaus State, taking the opener 9-2 and losing 11-9 in the finale.
The Coyotes (12-9, 7-9 CCAA) and Warriors (14-9, 9-7) complete the weekend at 11 a.m. Saturday, weather pending.
Game 1: CSUSB 9, Warriors 2
Jessica Brown,
Samantha Vacko and
Morgan Ratliff each homered as the Coyotes led throughout for the victory.
Brown delivered her seventh homer of the season in the first, and Vacko and Ratliff connectd in the sixth.
Monica Maddox was the only Coyote with two hits. Ratliff's bomb was a two-run shot, and Vacko joined her teammate with two RBI.
On the mound, junior
Amanda Ramirez went the distance, striking out one. She gave up eigth hits.
Game 2: Warriors 11, CSUSB 9
Briana Quintana hit her first HR of the season in the fourth, and Vacko gave the Coyotes a 9-8 lead in the sixth with a two-run HR to left.
But Stanislaus State scored three runs in its half of the seventh and held on for the win.
Quintana extended her season-high hitting streak to 11 with a 3-for-4 effort. Ratliff and Vacko each had two hits.
