SAN BERNARDINO (March 16, 2018) — Erick Allegro and
Garrett Ouellette each had run-scoring doubles, but visiting Cal Poly Pomona scored eight unearned runs and defeated the Coyotes 9-5 in the opener of their four-game weekend series.
Ouellette, who eventually scored on a wild pitch after his RBI-double in the fourth, gave the Coyotes a 3-2 lead, but CPP scored seven unanswered runs.
CSUSB (7-12) had seven hits — all from different players.
Starter
Ryan Rutherford earned the start and struck out four in 4 innings.
Noah Simon gave up seven runs — all unearned — and was tagged with the loss in 2.2 innings.
The series moves to CPP (9-10) on Saturday for a doubleheader that begins at 2 p.m. The series concludes Sunday at Fiscalini Field.
