POMONA (March 17, 2018) — Anthony Ortega connected on a two-run double in the opener, but CSUSB did not have another extra-base hit for the day as it was swept by Cal Poly Pomona, 9-5 and 8-1 in the teams' CCAA doubleheader Saturday at Scolinos Field.
The series finale returns to Fiscalini Field on Sunday. First pitch is 2 p.m.
Game 1: CPP 9, CSUSB 5
After Ortega's double, CPP responded with a four-run second and led 4-2.In the fourth,
Ty Lineberger delivered a two-run single to right and later scored on
Mando Rodriguez's single to right.
But CPP four unanswered runs to improve to 10-10. Lineberger and
Tyler Robles had two hits
Game 2: CPP 8, CSUSB 1
The Broncos controlled from the beginning and led 8-0 through five innings.
Garrett Ouellette scored an unearned run in the seventh when
Jacob Allen reached base on an infield error.
