LAS VEGAS, Nev. (February 3, 2018) — The Coyotes pushed their winning streak to four in its first two days of the season, taking a 9-2 victory in eight innings over Saint Martin's and an 11-8 win over Western Oregon during the Desert Stinger Tournament, hosted by Montana State-Billings.
CSUSB (4-0) finishes the tourney Sunday against Nebraska-Kearney.
Coyotes 9, Saint Martin's 2 8 innings
Down 2-1 in the top of the seventh, the Coyotes tied the game at 2-2 and then finished off the Saints with a seven-run eighth inning.
Jessica Brown scored on a first-and-third situation with two outs, and then in the eighth,
Caitlyn Olan keyed the inning with a three-run home run to center.
Brown homered in the first. She and
Brooke Thomas had two hits.
Kenda O'Cull got the win in three innings of relief. She had two strikeouts.
Coyotes 11, Western Oregon 8
Brown led the Coyotes at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI that included a two-run home run.
Amanda Herrera also homered, a solo shot in the third.
Samantha Vacko joined Brown with three hits, and
Morgan Ratliff went 2-for-4.
Amanda Ramirez earned the win and improved to 2-0. She struck out three.
