SEASIDE (February 25, 2018) — A two-win weekend over a nationally-ranked conference foe made for an extra-special way to end the month of February with CSUSB taking the final game of its series against No. 21 Cal State Monterey Bay 3-1 on Sunday.
Getting the job done
CSUSB's
Alec Ceniceros delivered his second home run of the season with the biggest shot of the young 2018 season. His two-run shot over the right-center field wall broke a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning and put the Coyotes in command.
Certainly not over the hill

Matthew Moriarty reached the sixth inning and kept the Coyotes in the game with a solid outing. He threw 5 2/3 innings, giving up seven hits and just one run. He struck out three and overcame five base on balls. Reliever
Noah Simon earned the victory in 2 1/3 innings of work with one strikeout.
Will Mentzer earned his first save, retiring the side in order in the ninth.
A stat to chew on
Coyotes' pitchers gave up just one extra-base hit and danced out of trouble throughout, leaving 12 Otters left on base.

Gabe Chavez tied the game at 1-1 on his fielder's choice RBI in the fifth that scored
Ty Lineberger.

CSUSB takes its 2-8 overall record and 2-2 CCAA slate into this week's conference home series against Cal State East Bay. CSUMB fell to 8-2, 2-2.
