SAN BERNARDINO (February 16, 2018) — Konner Arnold and Tyler Robles each homered for the Coyotes, who lost their home opener 13-8 to No. 13 Azusa Pacific on Friday afternoon at Fiscalini Field.
 
Costly beginning
APU sent nine batters to the plate in the first inning, scoring four runs on four hits. APU hit Coyotes' starter Matthew Moriarty hard, scoring 10 runs — all earned — on 11 hits in three innings.
 
Mr. Chavez
Gabe Chavez hit a two-run double in the fifth. He later scored on an error and CSUSB trailed 11-5 through five innings.
 
Big hits
Pinch-hitter Konner Arnold led off the eighth with a home run to left. Two batters later, Tyler Robles ripped a two-run shot to left. CSUSB totaled 10 hits with Jacob Allen hitting a double and a triple. Robles also had two hits.

The two teams return to Fiscalini on Saturday with a nine-inning game beginning at 1 p.m.
