SAN BERNARDINO (February 16, 2018) — A fourth-quarter rally put CSUSB in control in its 75-61 victory over San Francisco State in CCAA basketball Friday night at Coussoulis Arena.
What the victory means
CSUSB improved to 11-13 overall and 9-11 CCAA. More importantly, the Coyotes take a game and a half lead over Sonoma State, Cal State San Marcos and Stanislaus State for eighth place in the CCAA standings. The Coyotes can move one step closer to a CCAA Tourney berth with a victory over SSU on Saturday night. SFSU, which has won just once since Christmas, fell to 5-17, 3-16.
The leaders
Kaitlyn Parks led the Coyotes with 14 points.
Arianna Knox and
Sabrea Coleman each had 11 and
Ashley Carson 10. Both
Jasmine Sauser and
Leelee Owens had nine.
The turning point
CSUSB clung to a 46-44 lead through three quarters against the Gators, who dressed just six players Friday night. The Coyotes struck back with an 8-0 run and led 60-51 on Coleman's layup with 3:31 remaining and never looked back.
Senior Night
CSUSB honors its eight seniors — Carson, Sauser, Owens,
Genaya Wilkinson,
Jordan Mottershaw,
Lunden Junious-Reliford, Coleman and Parks — in a pregame ceremony Saturday.
