CSUSB fell to 10-13 overall and 8-11 in the CCAA, while the Tritons improved to 21-3, 17-1.
The tale of the game
CSUSB, which trailed for all but seven seconds of the game, fought through with tough defense in the second half. The Coyotes climbed back to a one-possession game after trailing at one point by 12 when
Ashley Carson hit a 3-pointer that drew CSUSB to 54-51 with 5:01 remaining. But CSUSB never scored again as UCSD finished on a 6-0 run.
The percentages
CSUSB shot 36.2 percent on 21 of 58 shooting. The Coyotes were outscored 12-4 at the free throw line and in the paint, 26-14.
A pair of double-doubles
Dalayna Sampton led UCSD with 16 points and 13 rebounds, and teammate Mikayla Williams had 15 points with 12 boards.
