SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes shot 51 percent in the second half and defeated Saint Katherine in a nonconference matchup inside The Den on the CSUSB Campus on Sunday night, 91-69.
Naradain James and Daytone Jennings each scored 19, with James grabbing nine boards and Jennings getting eight. Dante Williams led the way with 13 rebounds and Garrett Baggett and Malik Rhodes also scored in double-figures with 15 and 11 respectively.
The Coyotes held the lead throughout most of the first half, going up by as much as 17 before leading 41-29 at the break. The lead only dipped below 10 to start the second half, as CSUSB controlled it the rest of the way. The Coyotes dominated the glass, 59-33, with 18 offensive rebounds for 17 second-chance points. CSUSB scored 48 points in the paint and blocked seven shots, with Williams blocking five.
"It was a great chance to get back on the floor after finals and get the cobwebs out," CSUSB head coach Andy Newman said. "We are getting better defensively, better at rebounding, and getting better at playing together overall."
