SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes tried to come charging late to make up for a lackluster first half and early second half, but fell by two, 59-61, to Redlands at home on Sunday.
The Yotes had to intentionally miss a free throw with .8 seconds left to try and tip in for the tie, but Redlands, grabbed the board. The Bulldogs led by 20 with 12 minutes left in the game but the Coyotes came storming back, but needed one more possession.
Daytone Jennings led the Yotes with 13 points, and Andres Villa and Garrett Baggett added 12 each. Tyrell Henderson joined them in double figures with 10 and Jennings got the double-double with 12 boards.
The Coyotes were done in by poor shooting, 25 percent in the first half for 36.5 percent on the game, and 19 turnovers that led to 20 Redlands points. Redlands finished the first half on a 6-0 run to lead 29-20 at half and dominated early in the second half. A 13-0 run by the Yotes got them within six, 52-46, with 5:08 left, but Redlands hung on.
