SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes led from the get-go in coach Andy Newman's first game at the helm of the Coyotes, downing Concordia (OR) inside of Coussoulis Arena.
Daytone Jennings led the charge with 20 points and 13 rebounds, as Garrett Baggett added 14 with a big three late.  Andres Villa, 14, and Naradain James, 10, joined them in double figures.  Tyrell Henderson came off the bench to grab 10 boards.
The Coyotes, who shot 50 percent from the field in the game, rushed out to a 12-2 lead on their home floor.  Midway through the half the Cavaliers had closed the gap, but CSUSB held them off and led 35-33 at half.  The second half was closely contested with a couple ties, but again CSUSB held them off and Jennings converted some late tough buckets, James had a follow-up jam, and Baggett drilled a three in front of his team's bench to seal the win.
"Very happy to get the win in our first game here, but we have a long way to go," Newman said.  "We looked really good in spots but there are still a lot of holes we have to shore up if we want to make a run in the CCAA."
The turnaround is fast as the Coyotes will host Central Washington, who also won on Friday, on Saturday night at 7:30 pm.  Live links are available on csusbathletics.com.
