SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes were edged by UC San Diego on Friday afternoon at Premier Field, falling 1-0.
The difference was a set piece goal in the 44th minute off a free kick that traveled to the back post.
The Coyotes were on the attack early with two shots on goal, as they would record four in the match. Danny Ortiz put one off the post seconds before the UCSD game winner. Peter Arellano had a shot sail wide in the 77th minute that looked good and Ortiz got another shot off in the 86th minute as CSUSB led in total shots, 12-8.
The Tritons only got one shot on goal, but it was the winner. The Coyotes (8-4, 5-2 CCAA) will celebrate their nine seniors on Sunday morning prior to their 11:30 am match against CSU San Marcos. Live links are available on csusbathletics.com.
