HAYWARD (January 27, 2018) — Susan Crebbin would never admit that her team should fall behind by 10 points in the first half every night. The Coyotes head coach might let it pass, however, based on how her team responded Saturday night against Cal State East Bay.
CSUSB, down 20-10 in the first quarter, responded with a 23-5 run that brought the Coyotes back in their 67-57 CCAA victory. The victory was CSUSB's third straight, its best winning streak this season, and completed a road, weekend sweep.
Taking control
Senior
Kaitlyn Parks was the story for the Coyote (9-11, 7-9 CCAA) with a game-high 22 points and 12 rebounds. She also added two blocks in 31 minutes of play.
Sabrea Coleman and
Ashley Carson also scored in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Eye-catching stats
CSUSB forced its opponent into 22 turnovers and allowed just 17 field goals; a statistic that nearly always results in a victory. The Coyotes outscored the Pioneers 20-9 on points off turnovers. CSUSB forced nine turnovers in the second quarter and outscored CSUEB 9-0
on turnovers.
One double-double
Parks earned her first double-double of the season. It was the fourth by CSUSB this year (
Arianna Knox has three).
Back to Coussoulis
CSUSB plays four of its next five games at Coussoulis, beginning Saturday night against Stanislaus State.
