SAN BERNARDINO (January 26 2018) — CSUSB took one step closer to the .500 level with a steady 78-70 win over Cal State Monterey Bay in CCAA basketball Friday night.
 
On the road again
CSUSB won just its second road game of the season, thanks to its depth. The Coyotes' bench outscored CSUMB's 27-12, thanks to Ajon Efferson's 15 points.
 
Leading the way
Senior Dorian Butler led the Coyotes, who won for the third time in the last four games, with 17 points on 7 of 11 shooting. He also grabbed five rebounds in 28 minutes.
 
Story of the game
CSUSB (9-10, 7-8 CCAA) controlled from the get-go, and never trailed in the second half. The Coyotes were 8 of 8 from the foul line in the final half, all coming inside the final eight minutes of play.
 
Round numbers
The victory puts head coach Jeff Oliver's overall record in 16 seasons at 290-150.
 
It's a team game
Blake McBride and Jacardo Hawkins each scored 11 points. Both Efferson and McBride each had three 3-pointers. McBride had a team-high six rebounds and dealt three assists.
