A-1 Aguilar

SAN MARCOS (September 29, 2017) — Kevin Aguilar came through with the game's only goal and CSUSB improved its winning streak to three games in the Coyotes' victory over host Cal State San Marcos on Friday afternoon.

The goal
Aguilar came through in the 42nd minute. He scored on a free kick from the right side that got the job done. It was Aguilar's third goal on the year, second best on the squad.

The record
CSUSB improved to 5-5 overall and 3-2 in the CCAA, while CSUSM dropped to 2-5-2, 0-4-1.

It's another shutout
Sophomore GK Jacob Huber also improved his record to 5-5 overall with his second shutout of the season. He turned back two shots, one in each period. The Cougars totaled seven shots and the Coyotes had six with three SOG.

What's next
CSUSB takes on UC San Diego on Sunday with a 2 p.m. kickoff.

The series
CSUSB now leads the all-time series at 4-1 and it is the Coyotes' first shutout over the Cougars.

Coach says
There are no easy games in the CCAA and today was no different,'' head coach Darren Leslie said. "San Marcos is a much better team than its record. They caused us problems all day. We started out brightly and maybe should have nicked one in the first 20 minutes. They got much more involved in the game and we rode on a little but of good fortune. We haven't quite hit top gear, but we are finding a way to grind out results. It was a massive gut check for the boys and it is vital that we take today's momentum into our game Sunday at UCSD.''
