BILLINGS, Mont. (Sept. 10, 2017) — CSUSB earned its first victory of 2017 in impressive manner, routing Montana State Billings 6-1 in nonconference men's soccer Sunday afternoon.
Memorable achievement
The six goals marked just the second time the Coyotes, now 1-3-0 overall, have scored as many goals in a game in eight seasons.
Getting it done
Senior
Kieron Coleman scored two goals and added an assist in the one-sided game. He now has a team-leading three goals. Also scoring for the Coyotes were
Danny Ortiz,
Jorge Avila,
Humberto Salcedo and
Kevin Aguilar. Aguilar had two assists, and
Andres Aguirre,
Isaias Castellanos and Coleman had one apiece.
First-half dominance
CSUSB scored five goals in the opening 45 minutes and totaled nine shots in the half. The Coyotes finished with 15 and 10 SOG.

Darren Leslie said. "We showed how strong and deep our squad is today with 19 guys playing good minutes. We gave some of our guys a bit of a rest before we turn around and play Saint Martin's in our home opener in 48 hours. Great win and now we focus on the week ahead with Tuesday and CCAA openers.''
