Coyotes push winning streak at seven

SAN BERNARDINO (April 7, 2017) — CSUSB stretched its season-best winning streak to seven games after powering past Cal State Dominguez Hills, 11-1 and 8-0 in five-inning shortened games in CCAA softball Friday afternoon at Coyote Park.

The Coyotes, now 25-15 overall and 15-11 CCAA, and Toros (6-35, 4-26) resume their weekend series, beginning at 12 p.m. Saturday.

Game 1: Coyotes 11, Toros 1
After CSUDH opened the game with a solo home run by Lyzette Reveles off Cassandra Williams, the Coyotes left-hander settled down and offered just three more Toros' hits and struck out six with one walk.

She improved her record to 14-9.

Offensively, Taylor Ancona homered twice, and Kaylee Gemmell added a solo home run in the 10-run rout.

Ancona finished with three RBI, Gemmell had one more hit and Amanda Herrera had two hits with two RBI. Morgan Ratliff and Jessica Brown each doubled.

Game 2: Coyotes 8, Toros 0
Sophomore RHP Amanda Ramirez was equally adept, limiting CSUDH to just three hits and did not issue a walk as she improved to 11-6.

CSUSB scored five runs in the first inning, added two in the second and one in the third for its eight runs.

Gemmell drove in three runs, thanks to a pair of sacrifice flys and a run-scoring triple in the first.

Both Ratliff and Briana Quintana had doubles. Caelan Smith and Ancona each had two hits.
