TURLOCK (April 2, 2017) — CSUSB walked off the field Sunday night with its season-best fifth straight victory after defeating Dominican 6-1 in continuing play at the Tournament of Champions, hosted by Stanislaus State.
The Coyotes, who earlier in the day defeated Western Washington 4-1, take a 23-15 overall record and 13-11 CCAA record into the final four weeks of regular-season play. CSUSB plays four series against teams all below it in the conference standings in its drive for postseason play. It takes on Cal State Dominguez Hills in a four-game series that begins Friday afternoon at Coyote Park.
Senior LHP Cassanda Williams was named the tourney's most outstanding pitcher after going 3-1 with one save. She threw 27 innings, tossed three complete games and shined with 35 strikeouts and only two walks.

Tied at 1-1, CSUSB struck wth a three-run fourth and that was enough for sophomore RHP
Amanda Ramirez, who earned the win with a complete game.
CSUSB strung together three consecutive run-scoring hits from
Brooke Thomas,
Jessica Angulo and
Monica Maddox. All three hits took place with two outs.
Angulo had a double and a single for CSUSB. No other Coyote has multiple hits.
Coyotes 6, Dominican 1
CSUSB wasted little time, scoring two runs in the top of the first for a lead it did not relinquish.
Morgan Ratliff doubled in Angulo, who led off with a single. Ratliff later scored on an error.
Ratliff secured a sac fly in the fifth that scored Thomas for a 3-0 lead. Then in the sixth,
Ashley Leffingwell came off the bench with an RBI-double to center, and Angulo brought in two runs on a single to right.
Angulo went 4 for 4 on four straight singles — three to left and one to right.
Williams struck out 11, walked one and scattered five hits.
