SAN BERNARDINO (March 4, 2017) — CSUSB had difficulty against No. 25 Cal State Monterey Bay's RHP Hailey Fein, who totaled 14 shutout innings against the Coyotes in CSUMB's sweep over the Coyotes on Saturday at Coyote Park.
The Otters defeated the Coyotes 3-0 and 1-0 with CSUSB falling to 11-7 overall and 6-4 in the CCAA. CSUMB improved to 13-4, 9-3.
The Coyotes are at Sonoma State next week.
Game 1: Otters 3, Coyotes 0
Madison Casto hit two solo home runs and that gave the Otters enough cushion for the win. She connected in both the third and the fifth inning.

Amanda Herrera had the three hits off Fein, who struck out three and did not issue a walk.
CSUSB left six runners on base.
Game 2: Otters 1, Coyotes 0
In the fifth inning, pinch-hitter Valerie Aguilar hit a single off Coyotes starter
Amanda Ramirez. After reliever
Cassandra Williams replaced Ramirez, the Otters' Julia Garcia singled up the middle up for the game's only score.
Angulo and
Briana Quintana each had two hits for CSUSB, which stranded 12 runners on base.
Ramirez (5-2) took the loss in 4 2/3 innings. She gave up five hits. Williams gave up only two hits in her 2 2/3 innings of work.
Fein struck out five and walked six.
