Cassandra Williams struck out six as CSUSB took Friday's opener 5-1 in its softball doubleheader at Sonoma State.
The Coyotes, which lost 8-1 in the second, bring a 12-8 overall record and 7-5 CCAA slate into Saturday's games. SSU is 10-7, 5-5.
Game 1: Coyotes 5, Sonoma State 1
Brown was the only player on the field with an extra-base hit and she had two of them and two RBI in the win. She drove in a run in the first, and had another in the fifth.
Jessica Angulo had two hits and scored twice.
Williams went the distance, throwing seven innings and striking out six with two walks. She gave up three hits.
Game 2: Sonoma State 8, Coyotes 1
Brown went 2 for 3 against with a double and a single and drove in the team's only run — a one-out single that brought in
Morgan Ratliff in the sixth.
Kaylee Gemmell had a double among her two hits.
Amanda Ramirez (5-3) struck out one and walked one.
