LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Feb. 5, 2017) — The Coyotes capped a successful opening weekend, winning four of five games over three days after defeating Hawaii-Hilo 4-0 on Sunday at the Desert Stinger Tournament, hosted by Montana State-Billings.

Cassandra Williams threw seven strong innings, striking out two, walking one and scattering five hits in her first shutout of the season.
Junior
Jessica Brown supplied the early power that Williams and the Coyotes needed. Her three-run home run to left in the first inning was all her teammates needed on this day.
Jessica Angulo led off the game with a single to second, and two batters later,
Amanda Herrera reached on a fielder's choice. One out later, Brown sent a shot over the left-field wall.
Sophomore
Morgan Ratliff made the game 4-0 on a run-scoring single to left center that scored Angulo, who reached on a fielder's choice.
Angulo had two hits and scored twice. Brown also had two hits .
The Coyotes (4-1) return to Interstate 15 this week when they play at the Dixie State Tournament that begins Thursday. They will face Montana State-Billings on Friday, Concordia-Portland and Western Washington on Friday, and then face Metro State and Cal Baptist on Sunday.
