SAN BERNARDINO (Feb. 25, 2017) — The Coyotes will take a No. 6 seed into next week' CCAA Tournament after closing the regular season with a 72-63 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills at Coussoulis Arena.
The Coyotes (15-9, 12-8 CCAA) face No. 3 seed Cal Poly Pomona on Tuesday night in Pomona. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
All season long
Mya Johnson has been the kingpin for
Susan Crebbin's squad and she proved it again against the Toros. She led with her 13
th double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Casie Johnson was next in line with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Sabrea Coleman was the only other Coyote in double figures with 10.
Senior
Summer Ramsey had nine points, four steals, three assists and gathered two rebounds.
Genaya Wilkinson had three blocks with six rebounds.
The Coyotes grabbed the lead for good on a three-pointer from Coleman that put CSUSB ahead 26-23 with 3:44 left in the first half. CSUSB led by as many as 13 in the final half and didn't let the lead dip below two.
CSUDH (7-20, 4-16) was led by Simone Thompson's 20 points.
The Coyotes' seniors — both Mya and
Casie Johnson,
Michelle Okoroike, Ramsey and
Megan Vina — were honored in a pregame ceremony.
