SAN BERNARDINO (December 29, 2017) – Senior 
Kaitlyn Parks led CSUSB with 13 points and nine rebounds and three blocks, but a difficult third quarter cost the Coyotes in their 61-54 loss to visiting Cal State East Bay in CCAA basketball Friday night at Coussoulis Arena.
 
The records
CSUSB, now 4-7 overall and 2-5 in the CCAA, returns to Coussoulis on Saturday when it takes on Cal State Monterey Bay. The Pioneers improved to 8-5, 4-3, and play at Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday.
 
The turning point
CSUEB, which trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half when CSUSB earned a 10-2 spurt to open the second quarter, utilized an 18-5 run in the third quarter that CSUSB could not come back. The Pioneers were led by Elayshia Woolridge's game-high 20 points and Morgan Greene, who scored 13 points with 17 rebounds and five steals in 38 minutes.

CSUSB's

Sabrea Coleman each scored 10 points. Carson was 8 of 10 from the line with seven rebounds and four steals.
 
Lack of control
The teams combined for more turnovers (40) than field goals (38) in the first game for both teams after the NCAA-mandated Holiday break.
 
Game notes
CSUSB leads the all-time series 17-9 and the Pioneers earned their first win at Coussoulis since Dec. 1, 2015.
