Parks' solid night lifts CSUSB

SAN BERNARDINO (December 30, 2017) – Senior Kaitlyn Parks produced a perfect effort from the field, scoring a team-high 17 points as CSUSB snapped a four-game losing streak with a come-from-behind 65-60 win over Cal State Monterey Bay in CCAA play Saturday night.
 
All about Parks
Parks finished 6 of 6 from the floor, grabbed a game-high eight rebounds, blocked two shots and led the Coyotes in minutes (30). She also led the Coyotes in free throws (five) and dealt two assists.
 
Turning point
CSUSB (5-7, 3-5 CCAA) trailed by 11 points with 7:48 left in the third before it turned the game around. CSUSB outscored the Otters 23-13 in the third, thanks to a 15-0 run over a five-minute stretch. CSUSB hit three 3s in the run from Arianna Knox, Jasmine Sauser and Aleayah Kindred-Hendrix.
 
Turning point 2
CSUMB (3-11, 2-7) answered back and led 56-55 with 2:48 to go in the game. Ashley Carson hit two layups around a score from Leelee Owens and the Coyotes led 61-56 with 1:02 left.
 
Passing the ball
CSUSB had 21 assists with 24 field goals and hit 49 percent from the floor on 24 of 49 shooting. Knox and Carson also scored in double figures with 10 each.

CSUSB pressured the Otters into 21 turnovers, one more than CSUMB's total field goals.
 
What's next
CSUSB returns to the road this week with games at Sonoma State (Friday) and San Francisco State (Saturday).
 
Game notes
