ORANGE (Nov 3, 2017) — Junior G Ajon Efferson scored 26 points on 10 of 18 shooting in the Coyotes' season opener against Upper Iowa in CCA Division II Tip Off Play Friday afternoon at Santiago Canyon College.
 
A look at the play-by-play
Upper Iowa utilized a 14-2 run inside the final five minutes of the first half and led 46-43 at the break. The Coyotes trailed throughout most of the second half, but fought back and led 81-79 on Blake McBride's 3-pointer with 2:22 left.
 
Double figures
CSUSB had five players score in double figures — Efferson, Jacardo Hawkins (15), Dorian Butler (13), Blake McBride (12) and T.A. Dixon (11).
 
What's next
CSUSB travels to Portland, Ore., to face Central Washington on Friday. The Coyotes also face host Concordia-Portland in the CCAA/GNAC Crossover.
