SAN FRANCISCO (November 16, 2017) — The Coyotes flexed their muscles in Thursday night's CCAA Tourney opener, routing Cal State Monterey Bay in straight sets.

The Coyotes (25-15, 26-25, 25-11) won their eighth straight match and improved to 19-7 overall. They will face Cal State East Bay (a 3-0 winner over UC San Diego) in Friday's semifinals. A victory over the Pioneers would give the Coyotes their 20
th win on the season – the 21
st straight year of 20 wins or more.

Lauren Nicholson ripped 11 kills with 10 digs, but was far from the only standout on this night. Fellow All-CCAA first-team
Hailey Jackson led with 12 kills with a block assist. Freshman
Lydia Morohunfola was outstanding in her tourney debut, making seven kills with seven block assists and one solo. Freshman
Alexis Cardoza had eight kills and sophomore MB

Jayann DeHoog adding 11 with 32 assists.
The third
CSUSB raced to a 20-5 lead in the third for its decisive win. CSUSB hit .336 (47/8/116) for the win.
