SAN BERNARDINO (April 29, 2016) -- Visiting Cal Poly Pomona connected on three, three-run home runs and handed the Coyotes a 12-6 loss in CCAA play Friday afternoon at Fiscalini Field.
The weekend series moves to Cal Poly Pomona's Scolinos Field on Saturday. First pitch is 2 p.m. with a seven-inning game to follow.
Zac Hernandez connected on a three-run shot in the third, and Caleb Romo hit his one inning later. Both homers came against Coyotes' ace
Tyler Wells.
Daniel Pitts added the final three-run for CPP (29-14, 21-10 CCAA) in the eighth.
Trailing 6-1, CSUSB climbed back into the game in the fourth, scoring three runs on no hits. The Coyotes received five walks in the inning.
Ryan Cooper led the Coyotes (20-23, 15-16) with a solo home run and three RBI.
Wells (4-5) threw just four innings and gave up eight hits. All six runs were earned with four walks and two strikeouts.
