Box Score 2 SAN BERNARDINO (March 12, 2016) -- Putting the ball in play gives teams a chance at winning and
Damion Edmonds came through when he accomplished that feat.
With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth, Edmonds sent a sharp liner to short that had the makings of an inning-ending double play.
Only that didn't happen.
Two runs came in when an errant throw from second base and CSUSB earned a split in Saturday's doubleheader.
The Coyotes (11-14, 6-7 overall) and Wildcats complete their weekend series that was moved from Chico to San Bernardino due to weekend rain in Northen California.
First pitch Sunday is 11 a.m.

Down 3-2 in the eighth, CSUSB's
Andrew Lopez connected on a two-out home run that tied the game.
William Ouellette tied the game at 1-1 in the third when he scored on a wild pitch, and the Coyotes took the lead in the fourth on
Ryan Rich's single that scored
Daniel Romo, who singled.
Chico State regained the lead with a two-run sixth.
Jake Caron and Rich each had two hits for the Coyotes.
Starter RHP
Tyler Wells threw 6 1/3 innings for CSUSB. He had three strikeouts with five walks and allowed four hits, three runs (one earned).
Maas led Chico State with three hits.
Game 2: Coyotes 7, Chico State 6CSUSB led 5-0, thanks to a four-run fifth, but the Wildcats answered wtih a five-run sixth, then added a single run in the eighth for a 6-5 lead.
Lopez had a run-scoring single in the fourth, and
Brian Lockey keyed the fifth with a two-run double. Caron and Edmonds each had run-scoring singles in the inning.
In the ninth,
Grant Buchanan reached on a one-out single, and Ouellette got on with a walk. After Caron reached on a hit by pitch, Edmonds got his opportunity and his speed helped secure the win.
Noah Simon earned the victory in three innings of relief of starter
Don Sullivan. Neither Coyote had a strikeout.
