Box Score 2 ST. GEORGE, Utah (Feb. 6, 2016) — The Coyotes were dealt a doubleheader sweep at the hands of host Dixie State on Saturday, losing 8-2 in the opener and 14-2 in the second game.
CSUSB (2-4 overall) and the Red Storm (3-0) conclude their four-game series Sunday at 11 p.m. Pacific time
Game 1 Dixie State 8, Coyotes 2Dillon Fahr keyed the Coyotes with two doubles and a 3-for-3 game in the opener.
Damion Edmonds led off the game with a double down the right-field line, and
Grant Buchanan followed with an RBI-single up the middle for a 1-0 lead.
Dixie State answered back eight earned runs, capped by Samuel Hall's two-run home run in the fifth that keyed a four-run inning.
Ryan Rich had a pair of singles, and Fahr came through with an RBI in the fifth.
Don Sullivan took the loss in 4 2/3 innings. He gave up 12 hits, eight runs with two strikeouts and three walks.
Game 2 Dixie State 14, Coyotes 2Fahr supplied the offense in the second game with a two-run home run in the third, but the Red Storm were tough to take on as they won in decisive manner.
Dylan Lohman and
Andrew Lopez had the other two hits for the Coyotes.
Austin Casillas took the loss, giving up nine hits, seven earned runs with two strikeouts.
