OCEANSIDE (Feb. 20, 2016) -- Desi Barmore and
Juan Martinez each scored 17 points and
Everett Turner added 15, but it wasn't enough in the Coyotes' 86-80 loss to Cal State San Marcos in CCAA basketball Saturday night.
The Coyotes (8-14, 5-13 CCAA) return to Coussoulis Arena this weekend to close the 2015-16 regular season. They face Sonoma State on Friday and San Francisco State on Saturday for Senior Night.
The Coyotes are two games back behind Cal State L.A. for the eighth and final CCAA Tournament berth. CSUSM, which is fourth, is not eligible for postseason play.
CSUSB shot well, hitting 56.3 percent from the field on 18-of-32 shots, but the Cougars (15-10, 11-7) were even better at 56.7 percent (17 of 30).
The Cougars secured the six-point win by outscoring the Coyotes at the line, 21-8.
CSUSM led by as many as nine points inside the final 4:08.
Taran Brown led the Cougars with 27 points.
