SEASIDE (Dec. 3, 2016) — CSUSB hit its first 11 free throws of the second half and powered past host Cal State Monterey Bay 67-54 in CCAA men's basketball Saturday night.
CSUSB (4-2 overall, 1-1 CCAA) was led by
Everett Turner with 23 points, and
Dorian Butler with 14.
Eli Brown and
Blake McBride each scored 13.
The Coyotes laid little waste in their time once the second half began. Tied at 30-30 at the break, CSUSB enjoyed a 19-4 run in the first six-plus minutes of the half and stayed in front. Butler and McBride each scored six points in that scoring spurt.
Defensively, CSUSB kept the Otters from making any type of serious run. CSUMB shot just 35.3 percent field goals and matched its turnovers (18) with successful field goals.
Five different Coyotes had multiple assists with Turner dishing out three along with three steals. He was 9 of 16 shooting with three 3's.
Butler led in rebounds with eight, and both Brown and McBride had two steals.
CSUMB is now 2-6, 0-1.
