SAN BERNARDINO (Dec. 29, 2016) — Mya Johnson and
Casie Johnson each scored 13 points and
Ashley Carson added nine, but it wasn't enough in CSUSB's 66-56 loss against visiting Stanislaus State in CCAA play Thursday night at Coussoulis Arena.
The Coyotes (5-4, 2-3 CCAA), who lost their third straight, are off until Jan. 6 when they play host to Chico State.
CSUSB faced a 10-point deficit with 5:08 remaining in the game when it produced a mini-run that nearly gave the Coyotes the edge. Trailing 57-47,
Mya Johnson scored a layup and Carson scored five points, thanks to a key 3-pointer that brought CSUSB to within one possession of the Warriors' lead (57-54) with 2:23 to go.
After a Stanislaus timeout, Cassidy Sanders-Curry hit back-to-back 3-pointers and the Warriors ended the game on a 9-2 run.
Mya Johnson was 6 of 14 from the floor and also led in rebounds with a game-high 12.
Casie Johnson hit 6 of 10 shots with seven boards.
Both
Summer Ramsey and
Norissa Sanders each scored eight.
Stanislaus State, which improved to 6-7 and 4-0 in the CCAA, was led by Sanders-Curry with a game-high 23.
The Coyotes trailed for most of the game and did not lead once in the second half.
